The real who we are

 Identities

To be honest, I had never considered who I really am. This year, in the English classes with Professor Julio Samaniego, we touched on a topic that asked me this question: who am I?

Identity is the set of characteristics, values, and beliefs that define who we are and how we perceive ourselves in the world. It is not something fixed, but a construction that is formed and changed throughout life, influenced by our experiences, our relationships and even by the culture that surrounds us.

Identity is that unique essence that each of us has. It's all the experiences, qualities, personal details, and physical appearance we have. In this course, we learned a lot about true identity, and new words and touched on different subtopics that complement identity.

Physical Appearance
Physical appearance is all those external qualities we have and how other people perceive us. These are things like the way you dress, your hair, your nose, and your height. For example, I'm short and skinny, my hair is black and I have long eyelashes. This subtopic makes us describe all our personal attributes that make us unique and different. To better describe ourselves, Professor Samaniego gave us a vocabulary with different personal characteristics.

Relationship
A relationship is a link or connection that is established between two or more people, groups or ideas and that can range from personal interaction to conceptual connections in different contexts. Personal relationships, such as those with family, friends, and partners, are essential for emotional well-being, as they provide support, security, and a sense of belonging. On the other hand, professional and social relationships, such as those that are developed in the workplace or within a community, contribute to social and individual growth and development, providing opportunities for collaboration, learning and achieving common goals. These are very important in the construction of identity, since it is through them that we develop a large part of our self-perception, values and beliefs.

In conclusion, Identity is something that is formed in part by how we see ourselves physically and also by the relationships we have and is very important because it helps us discover and describe who we really are and with this I was able to answer the question I asked myself at the beginning.
